It was M's 24th birthday yesterday.
We sent him birthday messages. It was pizza and movie day so he was upbeat. What a way to spend a birthday.
We are working on letters for his clemency hearing. Since I am sending them all together everyone is sending them to me. As I read them I can feel the hope and the sadness. It makes my heart break every time that it has come to this.
No way, March 13 is my son's birthday too!
ReplyDeleteMy son was 20 yesterday. I was down most of the day as my attempt to wish him happy birthday by e-mail the night before was met with a snarky e-mail reply. He was in town but didn't want to do anything with us. But...Covid 19 intervened and he walked in the door at 9 PM after his college sent people home and he got a ride back with his roommate. I'm worried about having to live with him for the forseeable future (just because of the strain in our relationship, otherwise his behavior seems OK) but the first 24 hours have been OK. It was such a nice treat at the end of the day to get to see my son on his birthday, and see him smile. I'm so sorry you didn't get to see that.
Hope he can get some clemency. His birthday must have been so hard for you.

DeleteMaybe living together again will actually be good for your relationship. Sometimes a smile and a hug are all that is really needed.
